Goddard State Park Farmers Market

August 26, 2019

The sun is always shining at the Goddard State Park Farmers Market – quite a bit!  At least it was each time I set up the RI Waves informational table this summer.   Everyone was friendly, enjoying purchasing fresh local produce and baked goods.  Some stopped by my

Happy RI Waves pin wearer!

RI Waves table to see what it was all about.  Most were not aware of the campaign and interested in hearing more.  The kids helped themselves to pins and bumper stickers and life savers candies while the parents filled out our Safe Streets Survey and mailing list.  Nearly all felt that Being Noticed with a universal gesture – a wave is a great behavioral change to promote statewide.

And who knew that a bright red road bike is like a puppy to draw people in!  I watched a road cyclist from afar riding through the park turn around and come back to my table.  We chatted a bit and he told me that riding in the eastern part of the state makes him very nervous. He much prefers the quieter western half closer to Connecticut.  I never got his name because his cycling buddies were waiting for him, but I -and the red bike- thanked him for taking time out on his ride.

Safe travels everyone (biking, walking, skateboarding, roller blading, driving, running, back flipping…)!
