Stop, Look, & Wave
for Safer Streets
RI Waves is a fun, new road safety campaign for bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists.
RI Waves is a new, statewide road safety campaign that encourages everyone – pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists – to wave and confirm they’ve been seen at all road crossings. The message is positive, friendly and inspiring – we can all be safer on our streets when we Stop, Look & Wave at every crossing.

Doing The Wave is easy!
At every intersection…
Stop before you enter any street, any where.
Look in all directions to see if any traffic is coming, including bicycles.
Wave to any person in any vehicle, including bicycles, to be sure they see you.
When you get a reply wave – you’re good to go!
It’s easy, intuitive, and friendly. Confirm you’re seen with a wave!
“I wave to make sure that it’s safe
to cross the street.” – Marina
